Oct 9, 2024 – Secretary Richard Le Sueur represented the Kiwanis Club of South Edmonton at the Terra Centre for Teen Parents where he presented Emily with her scholarship.
The Colin W Reichle Scholarship will be an annual award to Terra Centre participants who are proceeding to post-secondary education.
The scholarship is in memory of Colin Reichle, a long-time Kiwanian who was a Past Club President, Past Western Canada District Governor and Past Kiwanis International Trustee. Colin had also served as President of the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada. He died from cancer in 2014.
Supporting All-Girls Baseball
Sep 25, 2024 – President Vicki Brown presents Samantha Bandlow, President of the newly formed Edmonton All-Girls Baseball Association, with a cheque for $6500 to help with their start-up costs. Accompanying Samantha is Amanda Warrington, an association executive member.
The Edmonton All-Girls Baseball Association was formed to support the growth of female participation in sports, particularly baseball. More information about the association can be found on their Facebook Page.
Edmonton Heritage Festival Involvement
Aug 2, 2024 – Our club trailer being set up at the Edmonton Heritage Festival, where it functioned as the Lost Child Centre.
Staffed by Kiwanis volunteers, the trailer was located centrally having high visibility to the public from all directions.
This was the second year that the Kiwanis Club of South Edmonton had worked with the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association to provide an easily identifiable Lost Child Centre for the festival.
Unfortunately, the festival was cut short this year due to volatile weather issues.
